For our international insurer we are looking for an international Head of Business Development. Our client is a renowned and leading specialist insurer with a healthy ambition for growth. To realize this growth, we are looking for a claims handler who, in addition to substantive know-how, also brings a good dose of perseverance and a good team spirit.

Activities

  • Executes country-by-country distribution plan to support European strategy by facilitating and leading presentations to brokers.
  • Maximizes opportunities for profitable new business and retention by leveraging business relationships, business opportunity research and analysis, product knowledge and underwriting skills across multiple specialized business units, consistent with strategic plans.
  • Maximizes territory profitability through superior brokerage management, development and planning. Leads a rigorous broker review process and plays a significant role in managing broker compensation strategy and plans.
  • Establishes strong internal business partnerships including business underwriters, claims and risk managers, and educates on key broker relations and marketing opportunities.
  • Serves as primary Relationship Manager and leads activities related to broker management. Strengthens distribution system through agency prospecting, activates new appointments and revitalizes existing brokers consistent with line of business strategy. Terminates broker contracts as needed.
  • Provides for brokerage needs, analyzes trends and implements proactive strategies that best position the company. Communicates underwriting needs and generates qualified business opportunities. Identifies synergies for cross-selling opportunities within the company franchise. Develops a highly disciplined approach to territorial data collection and high quality territorial profile.
  • Helps develop new program opportunities and launch all new business segments. Enhances and delivers cross-sell opportunities within the franchise. Maximizes the value of the franchise within the brokerage network.
  • Demonstrates expertise in underwriting needs and guidelines and maintains broad knowledge of business operations and products within the company franchise.
  • Travels regularly to key brokers and maintains a visible presence in the marketplace. Monitors competition and activities in the region and provides feedback to best position the company and business activities for the future.
  • Leads market management activities to make progress in net debt, pipeline, credit management and policy issuance.
  • Stays abreast of industry, territory and insurance trends. Participates in industry events and/or committees as the company's representative.
  • Works with Trading Directors to achieve topline plan through ongoing business development and monitoring.
  • Leads data and insight work to ensure a seamless view of all broker MI to support performance management and improved practices.
  • Ensures effective monitoring and management of our control environment in collaboration with control functions.

Profile

  • Successfully achieve annual sales goals.
  • Demonstrated track record in achieving sales plans in previous positions.
  • Effective management of sales relationships through a partnership-oriented approach.
  • Great experience in cross-functional collaboration within a matrix organization, with strong senior and board level relationships.
