Underwriting Specialist Property

Activities

• Underwriting profitable business, including new and renewal accounts to meet growth and profit goals.
• Negotiate participation, pricing and terms with brokers to close profitable deals.
• Proactively manage exposure and capacity to ensure strategic use of resources.
• Underwrite and evaluate capacity aggregations, including natural disaster accumulation, ensure understanding of catastrophe models and interpretation of scenarios.
• Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations as needed).
• Proactively liaise with Market Management & Distribution (MMC) on market management initiatives.
• Represent the employer externally in a positive manner in the marketplace.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers).
• Train, develop and coach less experienced staff (including Junior Underwriters, Operations and Credit Control).
