Are you an experienced D&O underwriter who wants to independently assess, price, and negotiate complex risks? We are seeking a Senior Directors & Officers Underwriter for an international insurance organization in Rotterdam.

In this role, you’ll work on large-corporate and international D&O risks. You’ll have the freedom to act independently, further develop broker relationships, and actively contribute ideas regarding the portfolio, pricing, and risk appetite. What will you do?

Independently assess, price, and underwrite complex D&O risks.
Draft and negotiate quotes, terms and conditions, and customized solutions.
Analyze financial information, governance, claims history, and business risks.
Maintaining and developing relationships with brokers and corporate clients.
Contributing ideas on portfolio development, underwriting strategy, and risk appetite.
Monitoring quality, returns, and commercial opportunities within the portfolio.
Collaborating with international colleagues, claims, legal, and other underwriting teams.

What do you offer?

You have extensive experience in D&O, Financial Lines, or similar business liability risks.
You are accustomed to independently assessing and defending complex corporate risks.
You understand financial statements, governance structures, and directors’ and officers’ liability risks.
You interact easily with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
You are commercially minded, analytical, and professionally critical.
You speak and write Dutch and English well.
You have a higher vocational education (HBO) or university (WO) level of work and thinking.

Salary between €6,172 and €10,030 per month.

Do I need to have specific D&O experience?

Yes, for this role we’re looking for someone with solid experience in D&O, Financial Lines, or similar business liability risks. You must be able to independently assess, price, and discuss complex corporate risks with brokers.

How independent is the role?

You’ll have a great deal of autonomy to underwrite independently within the agreed-upon strategy, capacity, and risk appetite. In addition, you’ll actively contribute ideas on portfolio development, pricing, and commercial opportunities.

What kind of clients and brokers will I be working with?

You’ll work with professional brokers and large corporate clients, often dealing with international risks. The role therefore requires strong subject matter expertise, market acumen, and the ability to engage at a senior level.
