We are currently seeking a marine underwriter for the Marine department on behalf of our client. Our client is a renowned and leading international stock exchange insurer.

We are looking for an underwriter who, in addition to subject-matter expertise, brings a strong sense of perseverance and a commercial mindset. You will be the first member of the Dutch marine team. This means you’ll have all the freedom and opportunities to build the portfolio from scratch, with support. Of course, you’ll also be part of the larger international marine team.

If you’re not quite ready for a leadership role yet but qualify as an experienced senior underwriter, we’ll work together to develop a growth path toward that leadership position.

What will you do?

Maintaining contact with clients and brokers, guiding insurance decisions, and contributing to business development activities and technical audits.
One-on-one contact with clients and brokers, but you’ll also collaborate with other colleagues and be part of a team.
Strong analytical, relationship management, and communication skills.
Developing a growth strategy for the entire marine team.
Expanding the marine offering of this international insurer.

What do you offer?

Experience in a leadership role is preferred
10+ years of experience in marine underwriting.
A completed degree at the associate’s degree level or higher.
Passed the WFT exams and willing to take additional training courses if necessary for the job.
Proficiency with (Excel) data, tools, and systems.
Good command of English and Dutch, both spoken and written.
A commercial mindset combined with a passion for achieving results.
