Are you analytically strong, commercially minded and ready to start or further develop your career in underwriting? For a leading international insurer specialized in commercial non-life insurance we are looking for a Junior Underwriter for our Hoofddorp office. In this versatile role you will work within financial lines, with an emphasis on Management Liability as well as involvement in Financial Institutions and Professional Indemnity.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced underwriters, where you will step by step get more responsibility in assessing risks, drafting conditions and maintaining relationships with brokers.

Activities

Participate in bringing in new business and managing existing contracts.
Analyze risks, determine premiums, negotiate and draft terms and conditions.
Carefully apply underwriting guidelines to keep risks manageable and price correctly.
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and other business partners.
Monitor market developments, regulations and industry trends.
Preparing quotes, answering broker inquiries and internal/external contacts.
Going along on client and broker visits along with senior underwriters.
Assist with complex files or risks outside of your own jurisdiction.

Profile

Initial experience in Management Liability or Professional Liability underwriting, or strong motivation to develop in this area.
Knowledge of underwriting principles and the insurance market is a plus.
Completed college or university degree, preferably in Law or Economics.
Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
Good negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate well with colleagues.
Perfect command of Dutch and English, both oral and written.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and other business software applications.
