As part of the client strategic growth initiative, we are looking for an Underwriting Assistant to support the Casualty underwriting team in delivering high quality client service and taking ownership of operational functions. You will report to the Lead Underwriter Casualty. You will support the Underwriting teams in delivering a high quality client service by taking ownership of the operational functions of the team allowing them to focus on production and underwriting. You will ensure that new and renewal business and endorsements are processed to agreed service standards and by adopting the ‘right first time’ principle.

Werkzaamheden

In this role, we are looking for a junior person to be trained up. The client provides trainings to upskill you and to offer the possibility to grow into a junior underwriter role on the long run. You will be part of a team of underwriters where 6 or 7 more senior members of the team will support you as mentors. In addition, as part of the job you will be expected to get relevant insurance related qualifications. You can help to achieve this by:

Preparing of the quotes (for new clients) and putting the quotes into the system;
Data analytics – extracting and overviewing data to provide underwriters with numbers;
Building good working relationships with local underwriting teams as well as with third party providers;
Monitoring and supporting the completion of outsourced processes, ensuring agreed service standards and quality levels are met;
Working with all respective areas to ensure efficient working practices are in place (e.g. identifying process improvements, and escalate any blockages to Operations Manager where necessary);
Providing Process and System training internally and assist in IT / System testing.

Profiel

A minimum of HBO level education (preferably in Insurance); no practical experience is required (happy to consider school leavers);
Fluent Dutch and English language skills;
Extrovert type personality – this is important for the commercial part of the role;
Good level of thinking, we are looking for someone who can think on their own;
Good communications skills.
