Our client have regulated insurance branches in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain and Germany. With a team of 250 employees, they provide in-country services in technical underwriting, claims and risk management.
Werkzaamheden
For our client we are currently looking for an Underwriter for the Liability and Financial Lines underwriting department. This job involves working alongside the other Underwriters in the team to provide customers with Professional Indemnity insurance covers with a focus on Design & Construct.
You will spend the majority of your time working with your selected brokers, identifying, discussing, negotiating and converting new and existing business, and making effective underwriting decisions. Using your well-developed relationship management and communication skills you will establish effective business relationships with your select broker partners. You will refer and manage upwards, case referrals outside of your personal authority limits. You will be respected internally and externally for your relationship management, trading and technical skills.
- Reviewing allocated cases and delivering underwriting decisions within agreed timeframes, in order to secure profitable business within authority level and risk appetite;
- Accessing and applying all appropriate sources of information and insight in order to best satisfy the needs of brokers and customers;
- Establishing an effective relationship with Underwriting, Claims colleagues and others;
- Contributing to the creation of segment and local business development plans which identify existing and regular flow of new business opportunities;
- Clearly and positively articulating our proposition and risk appetite;
- Maximising profitable business growth;
- Being aware of and adhering to the regulatory framework at all time;
- Capturing and recording of data in timely and accurate fashion;
- Progress through license levels in accordance with development plan.
Profiel
You have strong analytical, relationship management and communication skills. You have a clear ambition to further develop in Underwriting and you are passionate about your development in Liability Lines specifically.
- You ideally have 2-6 years’ experience in Underwriting and you have completed education at minimal higher educational level;
- Having experience in Financial Lines insurance would be regarded as an additional plus;
- Additionally you have completed the WFT-exams. You are prepared to do additional training if required for the job;
- You are well versed in working with (excel-)data, tools and systems;
- Your English is at a good level, both verbal and written;
- You are an effective team player and you add value by your organised way of working;
- You have a commercial minded attitude combined by with a passion for achieving results.
